American River Erosion Control Site 7.0R

Diamond D constructed a project to strengthen a levee along the American River and lower insurance costs for the City of Sacramento by placing rip-rap boulders on approximately 3,500 lineal feet of levee slope. Diamond D placed 45,000 tons of imported 18" minus rip-rap on 2" minus rock. 12" of native and imported dirt was placed to keep the recreation area, including a reconstructed bike trial, accessible to the public. All slopes and areas that had been disturbed were hydro-seeded.

  • Survey and Layout Project
  • Place environmental protection (ie; silt fencing and protective fence)
  • Excavate Launch Trench (deep excavation at toe of slope and filled with Rip-Rap to protect Levee)
  • Earthwork — 18,000 Cubic Yards
  • Place 6" of Filter Material (2" minus rock) on slope of Levee
  • Place 12" of 18" minus Rip-Rap over Filter Material
  • Place 12" of native material and imported dirt
  • Construct Launch Trench along toe of slope +/- 3,500 L.F.(Launch trench is filled with 18" minus Rip-Rap and is designed to protect the lower portion of existing levee)
  • Reconstruct Bike Trail
  • Provide erosion control with Straw Mulch and hydro-seeding
  • Monitor Slope through Rainy Season
